A career website for the office
Connecting trained talents with local and international opportunities
Ndoma Godsent (founder of Zion Tech Hub), a global leader in tech talent development and connection, approached me to design a website that would reflect their mission and reach. Recognizing their growing influence and the pivotal role they play in shaping Africa's tech landscape to connect trained talents with local and international opportunities, they needed their platform to show their mission and services.
MY ROLE
I joined the team as the product designer to create a digital platform that would effectively showcase their training programs, corporate offerings, and data consultancy services.
A Lack of Digital Presence
As Zion Tech Hub's reputation and reach expanded globally, the absence of a dedicated website became a significant obstacle.
In today's times, a well-designed website is necessary for establishing credibility, reaching a wider audience, and effectively communicating the brand's mission and offerings.
Without a digital presence, Zion Tech Hub was missing out on countless opportunities to connect with potential clients, showcase their expertise, and establish themselves as a leader in the industry.

The website has been fully designed but isn't live yet. I'm currently working on this, but here are the potential impact I look out for once it's live
Increased Brand Visibility
The website will enhance Zion Tech Hub's online visibility, making it easier for potential clients to find and learn about their services.

Improved Lead Generation
The website should attract qualified leads, generating more inquiries and potential business opportunities.

I'll watch out for the locations of our visitors (e.g Visitors are mainly from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, United Kingdom, and United States.
Enhanced Credibility
The website should strengthen Zion Tech Hub's credibility and establish them as a trusted authority in the tech industry.

Strengthened Online Community
The website can serve as a platform for directing users to their online community of tech enthusiasts, students, and professionals.

Improved User Experience
The website should provide a positive experience for visitors, encouraging them to return and engage with the content.

Early Stages
The initial design concept for Zion Tech Hub's website was developed through brainstorming sessions and sketching. While the initial design offered a foundation, it became apparent that it did not fully align with the brand's values and business goals.
To ensure that the final design was truly effective, I gathered feedback from other designers & developers.
The results of these open sessions revealed that the initial design was not the most intuitive or user-friendly. Based on these insights, I made the decision to scrap the initial concept and start fresh.

Then, I did a quick solution sketching to work on the feedback and suggestions gotten from the open sessions. This mini design test phase was condensed into 48 hours.
A Designer's Dilemma: The Challenge of Starting Over
It's no secret that starting fresh can be daunting, especially when you're working against a tight deadline.
I remember feeling a mix of frustration and determination as I faced the decision to scrap the initial design for the website.
As a designer, I'm deeply committed to creating work that not only looks good but also functions well and aligns with the client's goals.
When I realized that the initial design wasn't meeting these criteria, I knew it was the right thing to do, even if it meant going back to the drawing board.
It was a tough pill to swallow, knowing that I'd have to invest additional time and effort into the project. But I reminded myself that the extra work would be worth it in the long run.
A website that truly captures the essence of Zion Tech Hub and meets the needs of its users would be a much more valuable asset than a rushed and compromised design.

Sketches & Wireframes
sketching and wireframing were crucial for;
Visualizing the website's structure: Defining the hierarchy of information and the user's journey through the site.
Testing different layouts: Experimenting with different arrangements of elements to find the most effective and intuitive design.
Identifying potential usability issues: Identifying any areas where the user might encounter difficulties or confusion.
Communicating the design vision: Sharing the design concept with the team.

Key Findings
Misalignment with Brand Values: The initial design did not effectively communicate Zion Tech Hub's unique identity and mission.
Usability Issues: Open sessions (calls with designers, developers & non-designers) identified several areas where the initial design was confusing or difficult to navigate.
Need for Iteration: It became clear that a more iterative approach was necessary to develop a design that truly met the needs of Zion Tech Hub and its target audience.
Proud moments
As the designer, I'm incredibly proud of the final designs for Zion Tech Hub's website. I'm most excited about the clean and intuitive navigation
I've carefully organized the content to make it easy for visitors to find the information they need. The responsive design ensures that the website looks great and functions seamlessly on all devices.
Another aspect that I'm proud of is the thoughtful use of color and typography. The color palette reflects Zion Tech Hub's brand identity, while the typography is both legible and visually appealing

About Us Page

Courses Page
The courses page had the same design layout but different content. Since the courses had a lot of information, I had to highlight what to expect first from taking the course before moving on to the skills you gain and so forth, ending it with FAQ's that the user may want to know.
Below is a design from one of the course pages.

Consultation Page
One of the standout features of the final design for Zion Tech Hub's website is the consultation page. This page highlights their valuable consultation services, making it a crucial component of the overall user experience.

Bringing the Design to Life
The development stage of the Zion Tech Hub website was a smooth and collaborative process. Working closely with Eche the developer, we were able to successfully translate my design vision into a functional and visually appealing website.

Throughout the development process, I maintained regular communication with the developer, providing feedback and making adjustments as needed. Having a basic background in coding, I believe we were able to communicate clearly on sections within my design.

A Seamless Collaboration
The collaboration between I and the developer was essential in ensuring that the final product was true to the original vision. Over time, we developed a strong working relationship based on mutual respect and a shared commitment to creating a high-quality product.

Learning from the Process
The Zion Tech Hub website project was a valuable learning experience for me as a designer. Throughout the process, I gained valuable insights that have helped me to grow and improve my skills.
One of the most important lessons I learned was the importance of collaboration and communication. Working closely with the developer and the founder was essential for ensuring that the final product met their needs and expectations.
I learned the value of active listening, providing clear feedback, and being open to different perspectives.
Another key takeaway was the importance of user-centered design. By conducting open sessions (by booked calls with designers, developers & potential users) and gathering feedback, I was able to identify areas where the design could be improved (a major change here was scraping the initial design).
This experience reinforced my principles on the importance of putting the user at the center of the design process and creating solutions that meet their needs.
Finally, I learned the value of iteration and adaptability. The design process is rarely linear, and it's important to be prepared to make changes and adjustments as needed. By being open to feedback and willing to iterate on my designs, I was able to create a website that was both visually appealing and functional.
Elevating Zion Tech Hub's Online Presence
While the current website is a strong foundation, If I had another opportunity to further contribute to their business goals, here are my future plans for the website and brand to solidify their position as a leader in the field:
Content Marketing: Regularly publish high-quality blog posts, articles, and case studies to showcase expertise, attract organic traffic, and position Zion Tech Hub as a thought leader.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Continuously optimize the website's content and structure for search engines to improve visibility and attract more organic traffic.
Social Media Integration: Actively engage with the target audience on social media platforms, sharing relevant content and fostering community.
Email Marketing: Build and nurture an email list to send targeted communications, promote events, and share valuable resources.
Analytics and Tracking: Implement website analytics tools to track user behavior, measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts, and identify areas for improvement.
User Feedback: Continuously gather user feedback through surveys and usability testing to identify opportunities for enhancements and ensure the website remains relevant and user-friendly.
And that's it!
I really enjoyed the process from ideation, design, testing to development of this project. Couldn't have done so without the smooth teamwork with the team and those present for the open sessions!
Thank you for reading through! Hope you enjoyed learning about my design and thought process :)
